At the Water's Edge at New Greenham Arts
Tuesday 30 September - Friday 10 October 2008

Presented by: Paul Risoe
All the paintings in this exhibition are based on the land and seascape of Fanad in County Donegal. Paul Risoe made the first of several visits in 1969 and over the years the Fanad Peninsula, with it's dramatic coastline, has taken a powerful hold of his imagination. The paintings evoke feelings of the sea, rock, tree, skull and stone, especially the smoothly shaped stones of a particular beach. It is the coming together of things that endure with the volatile light and climate, typical of that part of the world, which the paintings celebrate.
Keep (Off) The Grass at Corn Exchange
Tuesday 23 September - Thursday 16 October 2008

Presented by: Jean Wallis
Perturbed by the ever-increasing urban sprawl Jean Wallis has been developing a painterly language to express her ideas and concerns. Paradoxically whilst some local authorities make plans for thousands of houses to be built on green-field sites others, located in cities and built-up areas, are responding to the challenge to bring green, open spaces closer to people's doorsteps. Reflecting on these anomalies her paintings evolved according to her focus. In some green is seen to diminish, whilst in others that colour can be seen to transform. And was the past always a better place?

Of Horse at New Greenham Arts
Tuesday 16 - Wednesday 24 December 2008

Presented by: Jo Derczynska Group
Six artists with deep knowledge and understanding of the horse come together for the first time. Their art demonstrates the truth of this experience. There are echoes of the early cave painter's visceral response but this exhibition is also informed by rigorous artistic enquiry. The images are infused with the dignity, generosity and grace of an animal that has served man for thousands of years.
