WISE CRACKERS!

Wise Crackers! is a comedy competition (part of the Newbury Comedy Festival) for young people in school (ages 12-18).

We pair these comedy hopefuls with professional comedians who share the ins and outs of live comedy performance. This competition is also a fun opportunity to improve participants' confidence, public speaking and creative writing skills.

The competition is divided into two categories: acts ages 15 years and under, and acts ages 16-18. In addition to becoming local comedy heroes, participants from both categories have the chance to win £250 for their school and a prize for themselves.

THE PANTO MURAL PROJECT

The Panto Mural Project is a seven-week visual arts project aimed to engage primary school pupils at risk of exclusion. Eight pupils from West Berkshire primary schools are invited to work with a professional artist to create an installation for the Corn Exchange's pantomime.

The children's work is displayed in the foyer and each child receives a certificate for their participation which is presented to them by local dignitaries at a celebration event for the children and their families.
